Reverend George Gleadall Swann was the curate of Darnall, Sheffield, in 1888 and vicar from 1891-1912 when he then moved to Pitsmoor. The Darnall Vicarage in Industry Road was famous/infamous as being the place where at one time where William Walker, (who was reputedly the executioner of King Charles I) lived. Mr.John Gaunt a local benefactor also lived there. Also, according to local legend, one of Sheffield's most notorious citizens Charles Pearce is said to have worked there, & was reportedly sacked for stealing a clock.
