Duncan writes as follows on the Little Even and main Barkisland families of Gledhills:

My ancestor is Janet Gledhill who was married in 1573 to Thomas Hanson of Rastrick.  Janet's father was John Gledhill, who owned land in Little Even, Barkisland.  The Little Even family appears to be an offshoot of the main Barkisland branch of the Gledhills.  I am not sure where the original split from the line occurred, but the two families re-merge, because the grandmother of Thomas Hanson who married Janet Gledhill was Margery Gledhill of the other family.

Little Even is, or rather was, on the western side of Barkisland, east of the main Halifax to Ripponden road, opposite Kebroyd. 

I've actually found Little Even. Despite its proximity to a busy road, it has to be one of the most secluded places I've seen. Its surrounded by trees and at the end of a hardly used dirt track. There was once a branch railway line passing below it but that is long gone. The current house and out-buildings date back only 120 years, and they are called Little Haven. The origin of the name is apparently Little Heaven.

The (patchy) pedigree below is taken from an article by J.H. Priestley which appeared in the 1940 Halifax Antiquarian Society transactions, and seems to be the only information on the Little Even branch in print.  The article was based on contemporary deeds, as opposed to a pre-existing pedigree and so is, I think, fairly reliable.  I have added, in brackets, the latest date at which the person concerned was mentioned in deeds.  Priestley's 1940 article on the family says that it is certain that it and the main Barkisland Gledhill family have the same roots.
